ProjectWEB evaluation Sem. 6 2004

BYGGE- OG ANLÆGSKONSTRUKTION, 6. SEMESTER 2004

INDEKLIMA OG ENERGIØKONOMI, 6. SEMESTER 2004

VEJ- OG TRAFIKTEKNIK, 6. SEMESTER 20034

The overall goal for the project web is to demonstrate what the students have learned during the course.

The development of the projectweb should follow the procedure described in lecture 2: http://it.civil.auc.dk/it/education/slides/project_web_2.html and these guidelines.

The project web should reflect that the students have considered:

  • Users of the project web
  • Information content, services and functionality, structure
  • Network and access to the information, file formats and file size, platform (in)dependency
  • Experiences with ICT tools related to the project.

It shall be emphasized here that different groups have different ambition levels and that they have great freedom to design and implement their project webs. During the course several IT tools to use have been presented.

The Project Webs can be used to document the project and the actual project work process as well as be a support during the project work. There is only a minimum compulsory requirement on content (project description, solution strategy and findings from the project work, solution summary, and references.)

A103

The group has made a site that is simple and easy to navigate. It has a presentation of the group members and the software, they have used during the semester. There is no description of the project and no reporting on excercises from the course.

The group has not used this site for file sharing, but has chosen to use the more advanced versioning system CVS which is well described.

The underlying file structure is well considered, but some directories seem to be unused.

A104

The group has made a nice looking site with an easy navigation structure. However the content of the site is very limited. There is a presentation of the group and a few working papers (it is not clear if they are final versions). There is also a list of external links relevant for the project and an internal password protected area containing a few documents.

The group has not documented experience from the excercises in CAD models and databases.

Some of the graphics (e.g. the text in the menu) would have been better by using a lossless compression instead of jpeg compression.

The underlying file structure fits well to the content of the site. However, there seems to be a few files that are not used and thus should be removed.

A105

This is a very good site which is easy to navigate and gives access to all major parts of the groups project work. In addition there is a good description of the decisions on the functional design of the site. The group has from the beginning used the site as a central repository for file sharing within the group and with supervisors.

The group has not documented experience from the excercises in CAD models and databases.

The underlying file structure is well organised.

C101

This site is simple and easy to navigate. It contains a short description of the project as well as PDF files with the entire report. There is also a short introduction to the group members and supervisors and an intranet with meeting notes. In the project report, the group has a short but well explained chapter about the design and construction of the project web as well as their use of the CVS versioning system for the report documents.

The group has not documented experience from the excercises in CAD models and databases.

The underlying file structure with only 5 folders reflects the limited content of the site.

C102

The group has made a good and well structured site with information on the group, their project and the courses attended during the semester. There is a site map which gives a good overview of the site. Regarding the IT course the group has made a good description on their experiences from the excercises they have carried out during the course.

In some areas of the site the planned content has not yet been implemented (28 may 2004)

In general the site seems to have a well considered file structure, however most of the 144 files in the root directory should be placed in an underlying directory.

C103

This site is very complete with information on the group, the project with pictures and access to the entire project report. The navigation works well and the group has chosen suitable file formats for different purposes. The group gives a very good description of their effort in this course and they give a well explained presentation of the outcome of the excersises.

The underlying file structure is well organised.

C104

This is a very good site with an easy navigation to information on the group and the project, photos from the construction site and the groups intranet. The group has made a good survey on their activities in this course with documentation for their outcome of the excersises. It shows that the group has carried through most of the excersises.

The underlying file structure is well organised. However, there are a few files and directories that are not used, and thus should be removed.

C105

This group has made a relatively simple site with an easy to use menu structure and access to the project report. The group has used the site actively as a projectweb for file sharing with group members and supervisors during the project.

The group has not documented experience from the excercises in CAD models and databases.

The underlying file structure is well organised.

C113

This group has worked very well in the course and published their experiences in their project report as well as on the web site. The start page of the web site contains a list of the group members and supervisors and links to a short presentation of the project as well as more detailed information on specific areas of the project. The navigation could be improved. The main content of the site is placed under "Tools for the project work" (Værktøjer til projektarbejdet). This part contains links to results of exercises carried out by the group.

The underlying file structure is well considered for both the public part and the internal part of the website.

C116

This site is simple and easy to navigate. The group gives a short presentation of their project, the group members and their supervisors. They have an intranet part, which especially has been used to publish meeting minutes to the group and supervisors. Sharing of working documents took place on a shared drive on the local file server. The group also presents results of exercises from this course explaining their considerations behind the design of the website, graphics formats and databases. The group has not documented experience from the excercises in CAD models.

The underlying file structure is very well organised.
